Lawmaker inaugurates c’ttee on boundary dispute
Member representing Orhionmwon South Constituency at the Edo state House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Osakpamwan Ogierhiakhi, on Tuesday inaugurated a committee to end the 21-year dispute between Edo and Delta which has claimed scores of lives, including a village head.
The lawmaker said the move was his modest effort to give back to the society, even as he enjoined members of the committee to see it as an opportunity to serve their father land.
“Your service may not be financially rewarding, but I can assure you that posterity will not forget you because you are helping to touch lives positively,” he said.
“We hope, therefore, that this summit when successfully convoked, it would come out with resolutions on the various key issues that this committee may formulate. On my own, I believe we should be able to take decisive and far-reaching position on the desirability of a university or a faculty of same in our constituency.”
On his part, the Enogie of Orogho (District Head), Engr. Osayande Akenzua, called on the National Boundary Commission to intervene through their ruler colleagues in Delta state to stop the killing of their subjects.
