Police arrest suspected armed robbers in Ondo

Suspected armed robbers terrorising innocent victims in Ondo and Kogi states have been apprehended by the police in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ondo state chapter early this week apprehended a suspected armed robber, one Mr. Kazeem Kolawole, who was on his way to Akure for a robbery operation.

Several rounds of ammunition such as two assault rifles, masks, black clothes, and a big torchlight were recovered from the suspect.

Narrating the ordeal to reporters, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Aremu Adeniran, said the suspected armed robber was coming from Owo to Akure when a driver who was driving the vehicle from the town suspected the bag owned by the suspect.

Adeniran confirmed that the suspect had been handed over to the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for proper investigation.

He said in the course of interrogation, the suspected robber led the officials of the SARS to their hide-out in Ehinme, Kogi state.

Adeniran commended members of NURTW for their assistance in curbing crimes in the state, reiterating the command’s stand at ensuring that lives and property were secured.
