Plateau: Lar, Dariye, Mantu, others shun stakeholders’ summit

Yesterday’s stakeholders’ meeting summoned by Governor David Jonah Jang, which was held at the Plateau state Government House, suffered a setback, as major politicians and prominent sons and daughters of the state shunned the meeting.

Those that boycotted the meeting are former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of old Plateau state, Chief Solomon Daushep Lar, former Deputy Senate President Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu, former Governor Joshua Dariye, Lt.-Gen Jeremiah Useni (rtd), General John Shagaya (rtd) and Hon Damishi Sango.

Others who stayed away from the summit included representatives of JNI, Ulama/ Elders’ Council ,Plateau state chapter, Hon. Fidelis Tapgun; Ambassador Yahaya Kwande; Alhaji Sale Hassan; Alhaji Alhassan Shuaibu; Hon. Dasuki Salihu Nakande; Dame Pauline Tallen, among others.

The meeting was called to discuss issues relating to the problems of insecurity bedevilling the state.

The STF commander, Major General Henry Ayoola, CP Emmanuel Ayeni and Civil Defense Corps state, Director Mr Desmound Agu were in attendance, but later left the meeting.

The governor condoled with families of those who were killed and observed a two- minute silence as a mark of honour. Jang told the gathering that a war has been declared on the people of the state. He called on them to unite and find solution.

    A war has been declared on he people of the state? As a retired Air force officer, Jang knew that when a war was declared, there must be two parties engaged, please your excellency, could you tell us who and who are involved in this war and for what reason?
