Okotie at war with keyboardist over N39.1m

Chris Okotie: More drama

“Okotie, pay me or kill me,” were the words Okotior Dafiaghor, popularly known as Daphee, a young man who claimed to have worked for Chris Okotie as his church keyboardist was screaming, where he was detained at Area F Police station, Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday.

CelebGist gathered that Daphee had gone to the Oregun based Household of God church owned by Okotie, around 2pm to demand for the payment of his salary since 1995 having written to inform the man of God ahead of his coming.

Here is Daphee’s statement: “Having been advised by my Lawyer, Dr. Chris Nwaokobia, to go to him and demand for my money amicably for the umpteenth time, I went to the church. When I got to the church premises, Pastor Okotie invited me in, but to my surprise policemen started coming out from different corners of the church and started beating me up. The next thing I knew was that I was brought here (Police station) to write a statement. They seized my phone, switched it off and even broke my sunshades.”

When CelebGist got to the Area F police station, Daphee was being threatened and physically assaulted by the police officers there who asked the dark complexioned man to write a statement by force.

“I will lock you up and make sure you are wasted. I will kill you, mad man!” one Chris Ohaekelem, a senior police officer, shouted as he slapped and punched the keyboardist in the face.

Thereafter, the same police officer shouted at everybody to vacate the premises and instructed his boys to shoot anybody who refuses to leave. The members of the press who had remained anonymous had to run for their lives when the policemen began to cork their guns.

When asked if he had any documents to prove Okotie’s indebtedness to him, Daphee disclosed that Okotie only makes verbal agreements with his church workers and they trusted his words because he is a pastor.

As at the time of filing this report, all effort to reach Daphee on latest development was unsuccessful. A visit to Okotie’s church at Oregun saw a bevy of hefty security men of the church all adorned in white uniform occupying the church premises, while others were parading the front of the church.
