I will open new vista for Sokoto farmers – Tafida
The President of Sokoto State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture , Alhaji Kabiru Tafida has said that he will improvised ways that will be able to open channels for farmers and other businesses in the state to thrive.
In a chat recently with our correspondent, Tafida explained that “The future of Sokoto is in the hands of Sokoto people, I tell people that the first thing we have to look at is agriculture, animal husbandry, we have abundant animals in Sokoto, cows, sheep, and goats and if we can tap into that, we get the meat and we get the skin”.
He said that the problem with industries in the North is because of low government participation adding that now that government is trying to divest, individuals farmers, organisations as well as companies can go and get loans from banks and other financial organisations to see that they improve on their farming activities and markets.
Speaking on the newly built modern abattoir, Tafida explained that one of the greatest gifts God has given the people of Sokoto state is abundant cattle, among others “So now we have a modern place to slaughter these animals and their meat may be packaged and sent to other places”
He said that given the whole business of animal husbandry, which is something that sokoto can participate fully and help in the development of the country in general.
He said that in his new position “I want to see that this chamber is taken to another level, we have looked at what our predecessors have given us as handover notes and we hope to improve upon it in terms of bringing development in the agricultural sector and more businesses to Sokoto in order to improve on their commercial activities”.
