D’Tigers tackles Tunisia in London 2012 Olympics game

The Nigerian senior basketball national team, D’Tigers will open their maiden Olympics Games adventure against African champions, Tunisia in an all African affairs on Sunday July 29 by 9am local time.

Nigeria, who qualified for the Games following a third position placement at the Olympics Qualifying Tournament in Caracas, Venezuela, will clash with world number five, Lithuania in their second match of the round robin preliminaries at the London Games at 2.30pm on Tuesday July 31.

The Coach Ayodele Bakare tutored boys will face world champions and world number one USA at 10.15pm on Thursday August 2 before playing world number three Argentina at 10.15pm on Saturday August 4.

The Olumide Oyedeji captained Nigerian team’s last group game at the London 2012 Olympics will come up against France at 2.30pm on August 6. Four teams are expected to qualify from each of the two groups for the quarterfinals of the quadrennial Games.

Nigeria is drawn in Group A against Lithuania, Tunisia, USA, France and Argentina. Group however consisted of world number two, Spain, China, Olympics hosts Great Britain, Brazil, Australia and Olympics Qualifying Tournament qualifiers, Russia.
