Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos yesterday announced the arrest of Onuoha Faith, 24, Animasaun Sulikiatu Busola Sunbo, 25 for allegedly trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine respectively.

The NDLEA commander at the airport, Mr. Hamzar Umar, said Onuoha, a stylist, concealed the drug in her braziers, inner wear and ingested some while Animasaun, a London-based fashion designer, hid three grammes of cocaine in packs of chocolates.

“Onuoha wanted to take a local flight to Abuja where she will connect another flight to Malaysia, but was caught at the local wing of the airport. She packed 750 grammes of methamphetamine in her braziers and inner wear and ingested 250 grammes.

“Animasaun was arrested during screening of passengers on a British Airways flight to London. Thirty sachets of cocaine weighing three grammes were found inside two chocolate containers in her bag,” Hamza stated.

He added that Animasaun confessed to the alleged offence when she told NDLEA investigators that her involvement in the drug trade was “big mistake” as she was induced financially. She was said to have disclosed that her sponsors promised her 3,000 pounds to take the packs of chocolates.

He said the London-based fashion designer had a dual citizenship and had lived in London all her life. While her British international passport number is 306673168, her Nigeria international passport bears A0243146.

He also stated that the Imo State-born Onuoha had confessed to the crime, saying she wanted to use the proceeds of the drug trade to further her education.
