Customs first quarter revenue hits N185bn
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected a total of N185 billion from 30 area commands across the country for the first quarter of 2012.
The collection has surpassed the amount collected the same period last year. Statistics show that the premier Command in Apapa Area One collected the highest revenue of N27 billion for the first quarter which was closely followed by Tin-Can Island Command with N22 billion.
For Port Harcourt Area One and the PTML commands, N10 billion and N7.5 billion was collected respectively for the period under review, while the KLT command in Lagos collected N5 billion.
N359 million, N10 million and N40 million was collected by the Abia, Adamawa and Borno/Yobe commands respectively while Bauchi command collected
No revenue collection was recorded for the Federal Operation Units (FOUs) for the first quarter of 2012. The commands in Cross River, Edo, Delta, Enugu,Anambra and Kano, Jigawa states collected N1.5 billion, N4.6 billion, N2 billion and N350 million respectively.
For Katsina and Kaduna command, the sum of N800 million was realised as revenue collected for the fir first quarter of the year while N1 billion was collected by the FCT Abuja command.
The Lagos Industrial area and the Lilypond commands both raked in a total of N3.5 billion and N5 billopn while MMIA and the Niger and Kogi commands collected the sums of N4.5 billion and N30million respectively.
A further breakdown of the figure shows that the Ogun, Ondo and Oyo\Osun commands collected a total of N800 million, N25 million and N3.5 billion as revenue for period under review.
For the Port Harcourt Area One, Plateau and Seme commands N4 billion, N16.3 million and N700 million was realised.
