With the hopes of qualification for the team event at the London Olympics already up in smokes, Nigeria’s female team to the ongoing World Team Table Tennis Championships in Dortmund Germany will today begin the battle to escape relegation.
Nigeria are currently campaigning in the second division stand risk of going down to the third tier if the ladies flying the country’s colours fail to step up their game in the classification matches.
The Funke Oshinaike-led ladies team ended the group stage on a losing note as they were defeated 3 – 0 by their Indian counterparts yesterday.
The loss was the fourth defeat for the country’s women team as they were only able to record a win against Estonia
The Nigerian ladies are in Group E with Italy, England, India, Israel and Estonia where they finished in a disappointing 5th position.
