All set for Jonathan’s investiture by NOC

President of the NOC, Engr Sani M. Ndanusa

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is to be installed as the Grand Patron of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) in a grand ceremony taking place tomorrow at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton in Abuja.

President of the NOC, Engr Sani M. Ndanusa, said yesterday that the body is all set for the nation’s sports personalities who will witness the investiture. He revealed that that the event would pedal-off the excellent preparation of Team Nigerian athletes to the London 2012 Olympics which kicks off from July 27 to August 12.

“The decoration of Mr. President as the Grand Patron of the NOC is a noble and traditional role which kick-starts our march to the Olympics. We are delighted with the massive qualification of our athletes for the Olympics with good records that makes us expectant of a good outing in London,” Ndanusa said as he welcomed wrestlers that qualified for the Games from Morocco.
Expected to add panache to the evening would be governors, senators, ministers and captains of industry and stakeholders in sports.
Youthful but hard-working supervising minister of sports, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, would lead events in crowning Mr. President as ‘an Olympian’.

The NOC has succeeded through aggressive marketing and uncommon display of accountability and transparency in convincing corporate organisations to support it to the London Jamboree and indeed in lending the government a hand in funding sports.
Many of the companies that have answered the clarion calls would take a bow before the eminent persons at the event.
NOC’s marketing commission chairman, Patrick Ukah, affirmed that companies that have embraced the NOC and sports would also enjoy the benevolence of government through tax rebates, while promising that there abound opportunities to be leveraged by such institutions.

To add spice to the evening would be the parade of our greatest Olympians and sportsmen and women.
The night of glitz coincides with the celebration of 60 meritorious years of the Olympic movement in Nigeria.
